The publication is based on the research undertaken by the Integration Syndicate initiated by the African Centre for Cities, (UCT) in partnership with the Poverty and Inequality Initiative (UCT), the Centre for Humanities Research (UWC), the Centre for Complex Systems in Transition (SUN), Mistra Urban Futures, Instinct and A4 Arts Foundation.
The Integration Syndicate was conceptualised and coordinated by Edgar Pieterse, DST/NRF, South African Chair in Urban Policy.
